new music and sxsw watch

head over to gomeztheband.com for a free download of the first single off their new album (set for release on march 31), airstream driver. it's super catchy!
if you preorder the new elvis perkins in dearland album, you get a free 128k stream of it. this one is released on march 10. i have a deep, deep love for the last elvis perkins album and i can't wait to see them again!
i've been talking up black joe lewis and the honeybears for quite a while now. we go see them almost every time they play because their live shows are that much fun. so much energy! the music is like nothing else out there right now. if you live in austin and haven't seen them yet, what the hell are you waiting for? i've never known anyone to not have a wonderful time at one of their shows. it's just impossible not to enjoy it!
anywho, they just released a 10" available here. and it comes with a free "bitch i love you" sticker! believe, if i had had any cash on me when we saw them the other night i would have bought several of those stickers. haha! they also have a full-length album coming out on march 17.
oh, i almost forgot! go check out the black joe lewis and the honeybears' daytrotter session. and then tell me that big booty woman doesn't make you want to dance.

black joe lewis and the honey bears!

i'm blog crazy today! i'm taking a break from a serious overhaul of my bedroom to bring you this news:
yessssssssss! it's been FOREVER since we've seen our honeybears. and i'm pumped about the new material! this is not to be missed, guys. and even though i've had a link on the lh side bar of this blog FOREVER, here it is again. so head on over there and listen to some tunes!
also, three olives vodka...i have a couple of interesting tidbits about three olives. i'm not sure if they still are, but about 2 years ago they were the only company that made grape vodka. i am not a fan of grape vodka (it reminds me of children's cold medicine...blech!) but kelly used to loooooves him some grape vodka shots. probably still does. and lastly, we went to a vodka bar in denver and i had a three olives cherry vodka and tonic with lime. do you know what that roughly equals? CHERRY LIMEADE, BITCHES. it was so delicious. i could have downed about 10 of them in 30 minutes. soooo tasty and dangerous. anyway, that's all i have to say about three olives.

friday the 13th part 2

the second half of my day was a little more normal than the first. i went to see screamin' nels for a few hours. that poor kid literally screamed ALL day yesterday. the only time he was quiet was when he was eating. it was sad. we all met at cuatro's and took a cab down to jaime's. ian had a chip on his shoulder and dana and i shared a margarita. it was hotter than hell. or so i thought. emo's felt like it was 115 degrees. lordy! i sucked down the sparkleberries because a)they're delicious and b)because they were cold and i was hot. black joe lewis and the honey bears were fantastic, as usual. i always have a blast dancing around at their shows. i think we all had a really good time during their set. after they played we went outside to try to cool off. we hadn't really been planning on staying for ALL of mates of state but we pretty much did. i think i was the only one who had seen or really even heard them before but we had a blast. it was a hoot and a holler! they played their cover of these days, which i had been talking about between bands, and it was beautiful. they played it last time they were at emo's but last night they had a violinist which made a huge difference. it was seriously so beautiful and amazing.
