spoon to play the parish 10/13

from austinist: Mark your calendars and buy tickets early - this Spoon show at the Parish on October 13 will sell out fast. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Thursday morning.

Those lucky enough to get tickets will cram into the small (but delightfully warm-sounding) room with a few hundred of their new best friends to support Texas Democrats and the campaign of Mark Thompson, Democratic candidate for the office of Railroad Commissioner.

This rare one-off will be the last chance we have to see Daniel, Eno & Co. for awhile, as they're set to head into the studio to finish the follow up to 2007's Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga ticket link! yeah, if you go visit that ticket link you'll see that this show is $35 (plus service fees). now, i loves me some spoon but i cannot pay $35 to see them right now. that's too much. i know it's a benefit, or whatever, but i've never paid more than, like, $20 to see those guys. it's not like i haven't seen them 10,000 times before. and i've seen them at small venues so i'm not too sad to miss them at the parish. i love that venue but this is one show i'm content to miss. plus it's on a monday. that isn't ideal! so it will be a while before i see them again (it's already been over a year). c'est la vie.
